This is a view of Tetarka Cottage prior to 1937, looking roughly North up High Street.
Things to note are ….
The iron railings are still in place to this day; no tarmac surface on High Street; a public water fountain on the grassy verge in the foreground and no large tree in the middle of the grassy triangle in front of the cottage. The current tree was planted in 1937.

Saint Blaise Primary School

It hardly seems possible that we have reached the end of another school year.


We have had a wonderful time. Pupils always comment on the wide range of opportunities that they have at St Blaise through clubs trips and visitors. We firmly believe that these experiences are what enthuses and inspires the children with their work and we hope their future life plans.

Milton Book Group

the WIMilton Book Group meets about once a month and we are always open to new members. Our next meeting will take place at 8.00pm on Tuesday 07 August.

2018 Milton Tadpole Feast (aka Milton Fete) Update

The ‘Fete Team’ are very pleased to announce that we made a total of £1966. This will go into MICE funds which are used for promoting future events. By the time you have read this article, there would have been the MICE AGM (Wednesday 25 July) when future events and spending plans were on the agenda.

Also many thanks toThe Wattams and The Woods for jointly supplying the water and electricity for the tea tent.

Didcot Power Station:
It has now been announced that the 3 remaining cooling towers and the chimney will be explosively demolished next summer, with full demolition of the site completed by the end of 2019.

Milton Story Fest 2018:
With apologies, and due to unforeseen circumstances, this event has had to be cancelled this year.  Thank you for your supportive messages. Story Fest hopes to return in 2019.

Cllr Robert Fyfe has resigned from the Council due to ill health. We have sent him a card with sincere thanks for his vast contribution to Parish affairs over many years and wishing him well for the future.


Parish Council elections are due next year, and we would like to have a duly elected Council. This means more than 7 people must stand.

Milton Hill Bowling Club

Over half way through the season and still 2nd and 4th in the Kennet Leagues and we have won more than we have lost so far in the A-B League.


The great advantage of having an outdoor carpet is it will take any number of games without damage and we can bowl away to our hearts content into the winter and beyond - without extra green fees either.

The seventh 100 Club draw of 2018 took place Suday 15 July. There are currently 63 members, so the total prize fund this month is £63.00 which has been split as follows:

Development East Of Sutton Courtenay Lane - Update

When the closure occurs on Monday, 30 July, traffic will mainly be diverted through Milton Village. At the best of times, it is difficult for peak hour traffic to turn right from the High Street in Milton towards the A34.
