MICE is a voluntary group of Milton residents who meet from time to time to plan social events throughout the year to promote a sense of community within our Parish.
The date of our upcoming AGM is Wednesday 25 July at 7.30pm in the community space in St Blaise Church. The AGM is an opportunity to restate the aims of the group, review our finances, outline future spending objectives and to plan events for the following year.
All members of the Parish of Milton are cordially invited to attend this meeting to express their views, suggest ideas and generally contribute to the discussions. Like all voluntary groups, it is essential to have an influx of ‘new blood’ from time to time bringing with them fresh ideas and enthusiasm.
There will be wine and nibbles on offer, and it would be great to have as many members of the Parish as possible – Hoping to see you there!

THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN
The Secret of the Unicorn
From Academy Award-winning filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson comes the epic adventures of Tintin. Racing to uncover the secrets of a sunken ship that may hold a vast fortune – but also an ancient curse – Tintin and his loyal dog Snowy embark on an action-packed, magical journey around the world.
And at 8.15pm, in celebration the 50th Anniversary of its release in July 1968, this will be followed by:
The music-loving inhabitants of Pepperland are under siege by the Blue Meanies, a nasty group of music-hating creatures. The Lord Mayor of Pepperland (Dick Emery) dispatches sailor Old Fred (Lance Percival) to Liverpool, where he is to recruit the help of the Beatles. The sympathetic Beatles ride a yellow submarine to the occupied Pepperland, where the Blue Meanies have no chance against the Fab Four's groovy tunes. Illustrated with mind-bending moving images, YELLOW SUBMARINE tells the story of how The Beatles battle the music-hating Blue Meanies armed only with the power of love.
From Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds to Nowhere Man, and Eleanor Rigby to All You Need Is Love, Yellow Submarine features some of the most-loved songs from the greatest band the world has ever known.
Come and join the fun, perhaps some of us can even sing along!
Entry by donation, including a snack and drink.
A classic afternoon of Duck Racing at Millbrook on Sunday 29 April resulted in the following lucky winners:
1 Duck 412 - Margaret Patching £50
2 Duck 199 Simon Glazebrook
3 Duck 440 Joy Browning
The winners have all been notified and prizes distributed. In all we sold 491 ducks/tickets @ £2. After deducting duck hire costs (£10) and prizes (£85) a total of £887.00 was raised, which will be donated to Sr Blaise Church funds. The tea and cakes were all made and served by volunteers, yielding £125.00 which will go into MICE funds for future events.
Thank you to all those who purchased a ticket, to all the spectators who attended the event, to all the steward volunteers. to all those who helped prepare the course and officiate on the day and to all those who donated cakes and/or served refreshments.
The Duck Race Team
April has arrived and the time has come for our very first Events meeting in the run-up to our village Fete & Barn Dance.
We are looking for new volunteers to join our small and friendly events team...
Are you new to the village and would like to be involved in village events? Or perhaps you have limited time but would like to be involved as and when you're free. We would love to hear from anyone who would like to join our "band of brothers (and sisters!)" events team of volunteers.
We meet approx 3 times leading up to the Fete (April, May & June) to discuss things such as: dates, improvements on last year, fundraising & sponsorship, new events etc... oh, and we drink lots of tea, wine, beer and eat cake!
Its really great fun being part of the Events team and we'd love to invite any newbies to join us.
Please come and join our first meeting:
Date = Tuesday 17th April
Time = 7.15 pm /7.30pm
Location = Community Space, St Blaise Church (next to the pub)
If you can't make the meeting andwould like to help, or know a little more, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Hayley (part of the Events Team)
A little over 10 years ago a number of Milton Residents came together to create a community group to organise social events within our Parish.
Our regular events include The Duck Race, The Tadpole Feast & Barn Dance and The Firework Display and from time to time we also help to organise one-off events, such as the recent Great Milton Quiz.
The Tadpole Feast (our village fete!) is scheduled for Saturday 30 June 2018, and it will soon be time to have a preliminary meeting to discuss its organisation. In any community group, it is essential to have an influx of ‘new blood’ bringing new energy and ideas, so we would really love to hear from anyone who would like to contribute?
If you would like to help, or know a little more, please email: email@example.com
You are cordially invited to form a team and take part in The Quiz of the Year. There will be 10-12 rounds of questions on various general knowledge topics, one of which will test your local knowledge of Milton and its history.
Here’s your chance to join with friends, family and neighbours to form a team and enjoy a night of local village entertainment. Our target is at least 15 teams of 4-6 members. Cost £10 per member including a ploughman’s supper plus prizes for winners.
There will be a supper interval at the half way point and attendees are invited to bring along their favourite tipple.
Proceeds split 50/50 between MICE funds and the Community Space running costs.
